HOW TO DEVELOP CONFIDENCE IN COMPLIMENTS

Use the following check lists to develop your ability to give and receive compliments.

·        DON’T FALL INTO THE COMPASSION TRAP BY GIVING INAPPROPRIATE COMPLEMENTS OR FALSE FLATTERY IN AN ATTEMPT TO MAKE SOMEONE FEEL GOOD.
·        DO GIVE SINCERE COMPLIMENTS AS EXPRESSIONS OF YOUR APPRECIATION.
·        DO MAKE YOUR COMPLIMENT SPECIFIC.
·        DO ACKNOWLEDGE A COMPLIMENT YOU RECEIVE, EITHER VERBALLY OR NON-VERBALLY.
·        DON’T FEEL EMBARRASSED OR PUT DOWN BY A GENUINE COMPLIMENT.
·        DON’T FEEL OBLIGATED TO GIVE A COMPLIMENT IN RETURN FOR ONE.
·        DON’T USE GOD NEWS AS A WAY TO EAST IN TO THE BAD NEWS.
